Retail marketing · The Shops at Carolina Furniture of Williamsburg

Something for everyone.

One enduring promise brings seven distinct showrooms, hundreds of furniture lines, and generations of expertise together.

The challenge

One destination, seven distinct showroom identities.

The Shops needed a corporate identity strong enough to unite seven distinct showrooms while giving each one room to retain its own character.

The answer had to communicate extraordinary breadth without losing the personal service, lasting quality, and family expertise that make the Williamsburg destination distinctive.

Then and now

A collection of stores became one memorable destination.

Primm's work with the Steele family began in 2004 with Joe Steele Sr. We introduced the “collection of furniture stores” positioning: a separate store for every taste, style, and need. Over time, it sharpened into “Eight shops; one place,” connecting more styles, selection, fabrics, and finishes with everyday value.

Today, the seven-showroom identity is expressed as “Something for Everyone.” It brings together 50 years in business, more than 400 furniture lines at 40 to 60 percent off retail every day, white-glove delivery, and Joe Steele as the familiar face of the brand.

The destination

Scale you can see. Service you can feel.

The aerial tour turns a 13-acre Williamsburg campus into a clear invitation. It shows customers the scale of the destination while keeping the experience warm, approachable, and worth the trip.

An integrated system

The same promise at every touchpoint.

In 2024, a five-spot television campaign brought the brand together under a refined promise: “Custom. Crafted. Curated.” Primm carried that positioning through the new website, email, social, reels, digital campaigns, and print, so customers meet one consistent brand wherever they encounter The Shops.

Fifty years

A legacy, told in living color.

Fifty years of family ownership deserves more than a line on a timeline. This brand film celebrates the journey from a single store to one of Virginia's largest furniture destinations, pairing decades of history with the faces behind it.

Joe Steele's voice carries the story. The result is a piece that honors where The Shops began, reminds customers why generations keep coming back, and sets the stage for the next fifty years.

The results

One cohesive identity. One flexible retail platform.

The system can promote the entire destination or focus on a single showroom without losing the strength of the master brand.

Retail storytelling

Custom. Crafted. Curated.

Product imagery does more than fill a catalog. It helps customers imagine rooms, compare styles, and understand the difference thoughtful selection makes. The campaign balances inspiration with practical reasons to visit, from expert customization to white-glove delivery.

Social media reels

A familiar voice, built for the feed.

Short-form video brings Joe's on-camera presence, the breadth of the campus, and practical buying information into an immediate format. Each reel gives shoppers one useful reason to remember and visit The Shops.

Print advertising

Rooms that invite you to imagine your own.

The print campaign makes the furniture the experience. Rich room settings create an emotional entry point, while disciplined typography and concise copy turn inspiration into a reason to explore the full collection.

Each execution carries the same visual system while giving a different room, mood, and customer moment its own spotlight.
